Amber Heat-Health Alert Issued for Parts of England

The UK Health Security Agency and Met Office have issued an amber heat-health alert from Friday 12 July to Monday 14 July for London, the South East, South West, East of England, West Midlands, and East Midlands. Other northern regions remain under a yellow alert.

Dr Agostinho Sousa from UKHSA mentioned that temperatures could climb above 30°C across most of England this weekend. The hot weather could affect everyone’s health, especially older adults and those with heart or lung conditions.

Stay Safe in the Heat:

•          Stay indoors during the hottest hours (11am–3pm)

•          Keep your home cool by closing blinds and windows

•          Drink plenty of water

•          Wear loose clothing, a hat, and sunscreen

•          Avoid strenuous activity in peak heat

•          Check on vulnerable friends and neighbours

You can find more details and tips on how heat affects your body and what to do on the UKHSA data dashboard.
